Brian DePrinzio is a resident of Newport News, the devoted husband of Jennifer and the proud father of three beautiful daughters: Ava Rose, 5; Ellina Grace, 3; and Raven Elodie, 1. He is the son of Teresa DePrinzio. Raised in Hampton Roads, he is a graduate of Hampton High School’s 2004 inaugural International Baccalaureate class, a graduate of Thomas Nelson Community College with an associate’s degree in liberal arts and a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a bachelor’s degree in English with a writing concentration. In addition to his role as Oyster Pointer’s business manager, he is also an Honors English and photojournalism teacher, VHSL Scholastic Bowl coach, yearbook advisor and model teacher for Newport News Public Schools secondary English instruction. He most enjoys spending free time with family, reading, writing and pondering philosophy. He has been working with Oyster Pointer since 2008. He was a bartender and international corporate trainer for Applebee’s for nearly 10 years while going to college and helping to take care of his late grandmother, Julie DePrinzio.
In my real life, this is what I do:
I spend every moment possible with my daughters, wife and mom. We like reading together, watching family movies and enjoying each other’s company.
And this is what I do for fun:
I like to go for walks with my family, visit nearby parks and teach my children new things.
My favorite writer: Miguel Cervantes.
My favorite book: Don Quixote.
When I have time for myself, I especially like to:
WRITE! I have been writing a book for several years, but have not been able to finish it. I don’t fully remember what “time for myself” looks like. One day…
My favorite travel experiences: Vacationing in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and going on a nine-day canyon hike in Escalante Gulch, Utah.
I would like to travel to:
British Columbia.
Three people I most admire:
- My mom and hero, Teresa DePrinzio
- My wife and love, Jenny DePrinzio
- My friend and mentor, Susan Vogelaar
On my bucket list:
- Finish my novel.
- Raise loving and respectful daughters.
- Retire with enough time and resources to truly enjoy all that life has to offer.
