Point Blank

Jamika Bivens

Director of Training and Development, Strategic Leadership Consultant, Drucker + Falk

My biggest influencer has been  my mother. Her strength, grace and unwavering belief in me have shaped every part of who I am today.

My childhood hero was  Maya Angelou because her courage, voice and poetic strength inspired me to be proud of who I am and to speak truth with compassion.

My favorite way to spend a summer day is  outdoors with family and good food, near the water with laughter echoing in the background.

My favorite item in my house:  dining room table. It’s where conversations, laughter and love gather. It holds memories more than meals.

In my opinion, the best leadership quality is  empathy. Great leaders listen deeply, lead with compassion and care about people first.

I know the efforts I put into my job are effective when  I see someone I’ve mentored thrive, lead confidently or pay it forward by teaching others.

When I think of MY work, I think of  its impact. Whether in training, mentorship or leadership, I’m focused on making a positive, lasting difference.

My definition of friendship includes  loyalty, laughter, accountability and showing up, even when it’s inconvenient.

Something that most people don’t know about me is  I once considered becoming a chef. I still love cooking.

The most important advice I would give a child:  you are enough. Always believe in your worth; never let the world convince you otherwise.

The traits I admire most in business owners are  resilience, vision and integrity. The best owners lead with their values and take care of their people.

If I could travel back in time and have dinner with any person or persons, I would dine with  the women who marched for civil rights, but whose names we never learned.
