Harmonized Neurology Family Chiropractic: Tuning the body’s engine

Way Beyond the Point

Dr. Rhonda Huff opened Rhonda Huff FIT (Functional Integrative Training) studio in 2005. It was more than a personal training studio. Much more. She created a space to treat the whole body.

“That business grew from a personal training studio to an integrative health facility with personal training, functional movement, medical exercise, yoga, Reiki, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, health coaching, NLP/hypnosis and functional medicine,” Huff says. “We were doing it all! Well, almost.”

By 2019, Huff was struggling with her own health issues, leading her on a relentless search for healing answers from traditional medicine. She says she was met with medical gaslighting. She found her issues being pushed aside, almost dismissed, as anxiety (or worse, as imaginary), by traditional physicians.

And she wasn’t experiencing healing.

At 59, Huff says she realized she needed to do her own research to find out how to heal. What she discovered changed her life and Harmonized Neurology Family Chiropractic was born.

“Opening Harmonized Neurology Family Chiropractic isn’t just a career move — it’s a mission,” Huff says. She thinks “people need to understand that healing starts from the inside. The nervous system controls every cell, hormone, gland, organ and system in the body. Things like detoxes, physical therapy and brain-based treatments are great and absolutely needed, but for true root-cause healing, the nervous system must come first.”

“The body’s nervous system is the root of all,” she says. “It’s the key to healing — everything.” It’s the body’s engine and the nervous system is like the fuse box.

But what is neurochiropractic? Traditional chiropractic, which Huff believes in, works on healing the body’s spine/bones and muscles. Neurochiropractic works on healing the body’s nervous system.

The body’s nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It controls how you think, feel and move, and how your body reacts to its environment. Basically, it drives the bus, it runs the show.

There are three components to your nervous system.

Central nervous system: The brain and spinal cord, which receive information from the body and give instructions. The brain controls how you think, learn, move and feel. The spinal cord carries messages from the brain around the body.

Peripheral nervous system: This component controls muscles, tissues and nerves as well as voluntary body movements such as walking, speaking and swallowing.

Autonomic nervous system: This part controls blood vessels, organs and glands. It includes the sympathetic nervous system, which operates the body’s “fight or flight” response, and the parasympathetic nervous system which relaxes the body after stress — “rest and digest.”

Huff says the “fight or flight” response is where a lot of people get stuck. And when that happens, “people experience exhaustion,” she says. Neurochiropractic can help the nerves so they can have a healthier response.

A visit to Harmonized Neurology Chiropractic is a bit different from a traditional chiropractic visit. There is no pain scale chart on the wall. There are no forms to indicate where the patient indicates is experiencing pain.

Instead, Huff uses three different scans to “read” the nervous system and indicate problem areas. She knows how a health challenge can “leave us feeling scared, confused, overwhelmed and marginalized. We want you to know you’re not alone,” she says.

Most importantly, she adds, “Your diagnosis doesn’t define you and it doesn’t scare us. I’m not a pain doctor, I’m a nervous system doctor. I want to find the root cause of the problem.”

“If my own journey and relentless pursuit of holistic, drug-free healing can inspire hope and transformation in others, then every struggle has served a purpose,” Huff says.
