JoAnne’s Catering is a locally owned and operating catering company accommodating a wide variety of eloquent events, memorable occasions and experiences to be forever cherished. Working in Hampton Roads for the last 14 years, the catering service will curate menus, cook meals and create art out of pastries, hors d’oeuvres, decors and favors with the hope of providing joy and comfort through both food and beauty.
JoAnne Jones and two of her three sons, Jimmy and Kyle, are a “small core family of three” with a vision for a familial catering company. “We were inspired to begin this business because we have something to offer, and I decided to mix passion and service with something we love doing,” Jones says. Jones caters baby showers, funerals, promotions, retirement parties, fundraisers, holiday parties and corporate events, including all-hands-on meetings and training seminars. “We can accommodate anything from a quick lunch to a gluten-free wedding reception, and even the occasional Thanksgiving dinner,” she says with a smile.
Specialties are important to any catering business, and Jones describes hers are fine cuisine with an elegant touch. “We assure each client that the menu selected will suit individual preferences to provide a versatile service,” she says. Smith also incorporates all types of international cuisine.
In addition to catering, Jones strives to expand on the occasion through a themed presentation. She says each party host “will be more than satisfied by not just the quality of our food, but also by the beauty of the presentation.” She is always willing to prepare events in-house or away from the venue based on her client’s preference.
JoAnne’s Catering serves businesses and individuals throughout the Virginia Peninsula as well as Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Her website offers a contact form to request catering services. In addition, the company provides sample images of the cuisine, favors and decor she has used in the past. Jones says her success has come through referrals from satisfied clients; however, her team plans to expand the company’s social media presence.
In addition to the help from her sons, her team includes “several well-trained and dedicated staff who join us as needed.” She hopes to increase her clientele and current roster of designated local venue spaces.
“Cooking and baking are passions of mine. I’ve done it my entire life,” she says. What started as personal favors eventually blossomed into her full-scale business.” She thrives on “seeing people happy with her results” and feels as if her job is done when she can “sit back and enjoy the special moment her clients remember as a special event.”
Originally from Vietnam, Jones immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s. She attended Campbell University in North Carolina and eventually taught second grade in the 1990s. Jones has a third son, David, and is proud of “her boys.” When not catering, she enjoys golf and spending time with her three grandchildren, who “make me smile the most.”
