Kyle Willis: Wearer of many hats

Kyle Willis, REALTOR® and entrepreneur, is an independent agent with Triumph Realty and the project manager for Infinity Roofing and Siding in Virginia Beach. As a collector of vintage European cars and a self-described “foodie,” he says he can often be found in the garage or the kitchen.

The real estate side of his business is mostly referral. “I ‘buy’ leads,” he says. He is the leader of the James River Team, which he formed. It now has three agents, whom he oversees.
“I expect to expand it,” he adds.

Willis purchases and rehabs investment properties, then “flips” or resells them. “I actually like to do some of the remodeling myself,” he says.

Willis spends a lot of time on the road as his “territory” stretches from Southside to Richmond. He lives in Williamsburg and operates as a Limited Liability Corporation. He owns a number of rental properties himself and he enjoys helping others find investment properties.

Willis was born and raised in North Suffolk. “My family has been tied to the area for several generations,” he says. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from the Joseph Luter Business School at Christopher Newport University (CNU). While in college, Willis was tapped to represent the role of Truman, a jolly green dragon with a contagious smile, featured in Kidsville News!, a publication for children from kindergarten through fifth grade that was published and distributed by Oyster Pointer for “five wonderful years,” says Willis.

“I met my wife there during my freshman year at CNU, and we’ve been together ever since,” he says. They have a five-year-old daughter Alexa.

At CNU, Willis competed for and won summer internships before his junior and senior years. “The pay was good,” he adds. He operated four Target stores (Williamsburg, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Norfolk) straight out of college in an executive leadership role. That led to several years with the purchasing division of CarMax. He went to auctions and learned to appraise cars. European cars were his specialty. Then followed a five-year leadership position with Wyndham Worldwide, a network of resorts. From there he obtained his real estate license and started his own business of investment properties. “Now I would like to help others navigate the world of real estate,” he says.

Willis says he was “pulled into” his other business, Infinity Roofing and Siding, by a friend. This business specializes in repairing storm damage. “Actually, it partners well with real estate,” he says.

Willis’s “car stable” at home includes a 1966 Mercedes, a 1972 Rolls Royce convertible and some Jaguars. All are licensed and insured. “Cars just ‘come’ to me,” he says with a laugh.

“My wife and I both like to cook,” says Willis. “My specialty is Southern cuisine. Yes, fried foods are OK. My ‘signature dish’ is fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese. My favorite cooking pan is a cast iron skillet.” And, he owns a smoker. “I love to barbecue and I can grill a great steak,” he says with a smile. “I like to have friends over and I’m looking forward to entertaining again.”

Willis and his wife Nicole honeymooned in Greece. “We would love to go back there” he says. “We also like tropical islands, and a California winery tour would be nice.”
