Ready for more reading

Guest Column

My e-reader is always within reach, because I am always ready to dive into a book! I am happy to share my latest two exciting books.

In None of This Is True, by Lisa Jewell, a casual encounter between two women who share birthdays confirms the fact that no good deed goes unpunished. Alix is a popular podcaster who becomes engrossed in the life of Josie, her birthday twin, whose story is tragic and heartbreaking. Self-delusion about her own life leads to tragedy for Alix and her family as she realizes Josie is more of a criminal than a victim. A riveting read that leaves you wanting another Lisa Jewell book to read. Thanks to my daughter Serena Hirn for the recommendation.

When a new Michael Connelly book comes out, what can you do but buy it! And since both Harry Bosch and the Lincoln Lawyer are in Resurrection Walk, I started reading as soon as it appeared in my e-reader library. Bosch is now retired and battling cancer. He works mainly on an innocence project, freeing inmates who were wrongly convicted. He meets up with Mickey Haller, the Lincoln Lawyer, to try to help free a woman serving time for killing a cop, her ex-husband. Both are reluctant to take the case since the accused agreed to a plea agreement urged on her by the DA and her attorney. The story was so compelling that it was 3 a.m. when I finally finished. I was sad that the author didn’t leave a clue as to where Mickey and Harry would end up next. But at least I’ll get some sleep!

If you have some recommended reading, please send the titles to me! Always ready for reading!
