Something that most people don’t know about dentistry is  that it plays such an important role in our overall general health.

If I could have 15 seconds with my 18-year-old self, I would tell myself to write a journal. Take a few minutes every day to comment on the day’s events. Years later, after all of life’s adventures, raising a family, highs and lows, the memories of those events would be right there.

When I think about relaxation, these three things come to mind:

  1. Sounds of gentle breezes whispering through palm trees as waves break on the offshore reef and sun shining on my face.
  2. Floating in the pool on a hot August night with a full moon shining down, listening to a restless mockingbird kept awake by the moon.
  3. A week at the Outer Banks with no plans.

If I could spend the day doing anything I wanted, I would  surf with my surfing buddies and my family.

My guilty pleasure is  the Pecan Mudslide at DQ five minutes from my house.

In my family I am  the creative one.

Something that I have done recently that I have been able to check off my bucket list is  hike the Franconia Ridge Loop Train in the New Hampshire White Mountains, an amazing and grueling eight-mile circuit where my brother and I made the 3800-foot ascent. Spectacular views!

Something I plan to check off my bucket list is  a trip to France.

My hidden talent is  that I always know what time it is.

The best advice anyone ever gave me was  from my younger brother, also a dentist, who told me to pursue dentistry because I love art and working with my hands. His advice has rewarded me — a great job where I can be creative every day.

I plan to spend the summer occupied by  weekend trips to the beach, doing artwork and working around the house.
